Hi Timeless Leaders!
Welcome to the interlude.
Last week we wrapped up Season 1 of Timeless Leadership, where I shared some of the origins of a new way of thinking and acting as leaders. It’s all about a play on the word “timeless”… we want to do something that will last (timeless = without end), but we barely have enough time to even survive in the first place (timeless = scarcity).
As I shared in the finale, I think that the answer to this conundrum is to Save Time (through curation), Craft Time (with design), and Escape Time (by teaching).
I’ve gotten some great feedback on the finale post so far. If you haven’t read it yet, check it out and let me know what you think!
As for other updates, this week is short and sweet - just three bullets:
The winner of our feedback drawing last night was Will Murch! Congrats Will, and thanks for sharing your thoughts (and thanks to the others who got back to me as well). I’ll email with you to figure out your gift card redemption!
Today is election day in many states. As you think about how to be a Timeless Leader this year, how we all show up as a citizens will be a big factor in the kind of world we leave to the next generation. I hope you’ll hold this in your mind each time you read one of my posts. Also I’d love you to share your thoughts, observations, and commitments about citizen-leadership right now. Did you vote yet in your primary? Are you getting involved in other ways? Keep me in the loop!
Next week I’ll be in Las Vegas for Transform. If you’ll be in attendance or know someone else who will be, let’s try to connect! Slate has a booth and I’m also co-facilitating a workshop on “Leadership Agility.”
Finally - we are now in an interlude between “seasons” of this Substack. That means the rhythm and vibe will be a little more varied and unstructured until Season 2 kicks off later this year. I hope you enjoy this somewhat unusual structure and approach to a newsletter. It’s helpful for me as a writer, and my aim is that it gives both you and me a better sense of where we’re going and why.
Stay tuned!
