Hi Timeless Leaders,
Yesterday I attended the funeral and celebration of life of my wife’s uncle, Rao Madamala. He was 84.
Since I met him about 15 years ago he had also become like an uncle to me. He was a quiet man and we didn’t always exchange more than a few words, but in the past few weeks I realized just how many special occasions we had shared together. I also learned more about his life and just how much he meant to others.

Rao’s story and impact reverberates. He was one of the first members of Nimmi’s extended family to immigrate to the US, and he helped pave the way for her parents to come. He was a scientist with several patents, including one that revolutionized part of the pharmaceutical industry. He was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who touched people’s lives with his hard work, courageous spirit, quiet humility, and loving support.
I’m still processing this loss and reflecting on the seasons of life.
Let me leave you with this — don’t wait to get to know the people in your life, and never hesitate to tell people you love them.
Time goes by so quickly.
With love,
Joe
